The Alcohol Related Problems And Alcohol Related Deaths That Are Associated With Abusive And Excessive Drinking And What Can Be Done About Alcohol Addiction And Alcohol Abuse In Our Country

How many people get injured or lose their lives in alcohol related traffic accidents every year? On an annual basis, how many alcoholics fail to get the professional alcohol treatment they require? How many people are the victims of alcohol related crime or violence each and every year? How many people face serious consequences in their lives because they received a DWI conviction? How many junior high, high school, and college students lose their lives every year due to an alcohol overdose? How many people's lives are cut short due to unhealthy and hazardous drinking? How many individuals lose their lives every year because of drinking problems? How many children are born each year with fetal alcohol syndrome? How many individuals lose their lives each year from a condition that is one hundred percent preventable, such as alcohol poisoning?

So what's the point in asking these questions? Principally to underline the destructive and devastating nature of abusive and careless drinking. Indeed, and based on the above questions, it is a wonder why anyone would choose to drink in a hazardous and excessive manner.

Stated another way, with the host of financial issues, relationship dilemmas, legal proceedings, employment difficulties, and health problems that are linked to chronic alcohol abuse and alcoholism, why would any individual with any sense at all want to drink in an abusive and excessive manner? Indeed when some of the above topics are examined more closely, abusive and careless drinking becomes more illogical and makes even less sense.

Wouldn't you imagine that alcoholics would be able to see some of the alcoholism symptoms that they exhibit? In a similar manner, doesn't it seem plausible to think that more alcoholics would be able to see some of the alcoholism signs that they display? What is more, would you not think that people who are alcohol dependent would attempt to learn more about their alcoholic symptoms by reading about various alcohol-related statistics, information, and facts?

After reviewing the alcohol abuse and alcohol addiction research findings, the point is so important that it needs to be reiterated: With all of the dangerous and unhealthy effects that are even remotely linked to continuous and repetitive alcohol abuse and alcohol addiction, why would any person want to engage in excessive and careless drinking?

What can be done about the pervasive nature of alcohol abuse and alcoholism in the U.S.? Firstly, society needs to get the message to more people about the dangerous and unhealthy outcomes of unhealthy and excessive drinking. Second, individuals who are alcohol abusers or alcohol addicts need to look in the mirror and ask why they are not receiving the quality alcohol therapy they need.

Thirdly, our students need more relevant and more meaningful educational and preventative methods and approaches so that more students at all grade levels, including those who are at college, "get the word". And fourth, our students need to learn how to become problem solvers in life instead of resorting to the "quick fix" and the "instant gratification" of an alcohol or drug abuse "buzz" or "high".

There's a lot of room for optimism and hope if individuals can start drinking in moderation and those who engage in careless and abusive drinking can become persuaded to get the alcohol rehab they need. Indeed, why put your loved ones through turmoil, pain, and suffering because of your excessive and abusive drinking when you have the power to control your life by drinking in moderation or even quitting drinking if you can't control your drinking?
